SMS & Mobile Services

SMS is basically another word for text messaging. Everybody who has a mobile phone has the ability to send and receive SMS/text messages.

Premium SMS generates revenue for you much like Premium Rate numbers. We provide you with a Premium Rate shortcode and a keyword (e.g. WIN on 81234) and you get paid revenue per text message. Tariffs are available from 25p up to £10 per text covering Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, Orange, Three and Virgin.

Customers are charged for receiving messages on their mobile phones rather than for sending them. For example if somebody sends a text message to enter a competition they are actually billed when they receive the reply thanking them for entering.

When they send the text message they will put a keyword as the first word of the message, which is why you see the services advertising "send CHAT to 89131". So CHAT is what the caller types into the message and 89131 is the number they send it to, the shortcode.

This keyword has 2 functions:

1. It tells us which service this message should be sent to e.g. competition or chat.

2. Each keyword is allocated to only one of our customers, so we are then able to know who is promoting the service and how much to pay them.

Most SMS uses fall into one of the 4 categories below, however we can create bespoke services too:

Competitions
You can run a competition which people can enter through SMS. For example you could advertise questions and people can text their answers to your shortcode. Our system can then send them back messages depending on whether they were right or wrong and they get charged per message.

Subscription Services
If you have information which could be of value to other people and is updated frequently, we can setup a subscription service where people can sign up to receive messages from you and you earn revenue from every message they receive. People subscribe to a service by texting a word into a 5 digit shortcode number using their mobile, they are then subscribed to that service until they unsubscribe by texting back in again. You can login to a website admin area and send messages to the subscribers which are charged to them per message or the system can send readymade messages at preset times.

Voting
People can vote by text. This may be used as part of a marketing campaign or it can also be used to generate revenue if premium SMS is used.

SMS Chat (£1.50 only)
SMS chat can be suitable for many one to one interactions where you wish to charge per message. You can answer the messages from your computer, or you may wish our professional operators to answer the messages for you
